The best overall time for wildlife viewing is the dry season from June to October, but every season has something special. Pick by what you most want to see.
Ideal for wildlife viewing, because animals gather around shrinking water sources and are easy to find. Tarangire is at its best, with large elephant herds along the Tarangire River. This is also the busiest and most expensive season, so book early.
The peak time to witness the wildebeest's dramatic river crossings in the northern Serengeti. If the crossings are your main goal, plan your safari for these months.
Great for seeing newborn wildlife and intense predator activity in the southern Serengeti. Lions, leopards and cheetahs are drawn to the new calves, so there is a lot of action to watch.
The parks are lush and green, with fewer crowds and lower rates. It is the best choice if you want a quieter safari at a lower price.
