2-Day Fly-In Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater Safari Overview

This 2-Day Fly-In Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater Safari is designed for travellers who want Tanzania's most famous wildlife destinations with the least possible travel time. Instead of a long drive, you take a scenic flight from Arusha or Zanzibar to the Seronera airstrip in the central Serengeti, then explore the plains and the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater with expert guides.

It combines the vast Serengeti home to lion prides, cheetahs, leopards, elephants and, in season, the Great Migration with the Ngorongoro Crater's extraordinary concentration of wildlife. Whether you're on a short holiday, extending a business trip, or adding a safari to a Zanzibar beach break, this fly-in trip delivers maximum game viewing in minimum time.

Why fly in rather than drive?

A standard 2-day road safari spends 7–8 hours driving each way to the Serengeti most of your trip on the road. Flying into Seronera turns that into a one-hour hop from Arusha (or about 2–2.5 hours from Zanzibar), so almost all your time is spent watching wildlife rather than travelling. You also enjoy spectacular aerial views of the plains on the way in. It's the smart choice for short trips, families and anyone combining safari with a Zanzibar beach holiday.

Why Choose This 2-Day Fly-in Serengeti & Ngorongoro Safari?

This safari offers the perfect combination of Tanzania’s two most iconic wildlife destinations in just two days. Travelers can experience the endless plains of Serengeti National Park and the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater without requiring a long vacation.

The Serengeti is renowned for its abundant wildlife, including large lion prides, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, and the Great Migration, while the Ngorongoro Crater provides one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa within a spectacular volcanic caldera.

With expert guides, carefully planned logistics, and excellent game viewing opportunities, this safari is ideal for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, couples, families, and first-time visitors to Tanzania.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 — Fly to the Serengeti (Seronera airstrip)

Board your scheduled morning flight from Arusha (Arusha Airport) or Zanzibar to the Seronera airstrip in the heart of the central Serengeti about 1 hour from Arusha or roughly 2–2.5 hours from Zanzibar, with breathtaking aerial views of the plains along the way. On landing you are met by your professional guide and 4x4 safari vehicle and head straight out on a game drive through the wildlife-rich Seronera valley, famous for lion, leopard and cheetah. After a picnic lunch in the bush and an afternoon of game viewing, you settle in for an overnight stay at a Serengeti camp or lodge.

Day 2 — Ngorongoro Crater & departure

After an early breakfast and a short morning game drive, you travel from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater, viewing wildlife across the southern plains en route. Descend around 600 metres to the crater floor for a game drive in search of the Big Five lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and the rare black rhino alongside hippos, flamingos and large herds. After a picnic lunch, you ascend the crater rim and transfer onward: either a flight back to Arusha or Zanzibar from the nearby Lake Manyara airstrip, or a road transfer to Arusha (about 4 hours), concluding your safari.
