Mid-Range · Private Vehicle · 3 Days
This is the safari most travellers land on once they compare what they are actually paying for at each level. Over three days, a private 4x4 and guide take you through Tarangire's elephant herds and baobabs, Lake Manyara's forest and lakeshore, and a full day in the Ngorongoro Crater, staying at comfortable, well-located lodges the whole way. The wildlife, the guiding and the vehicle privacy are identical to our luxury trip. What changes is the finish of the room, not what you see on a game drive. The sweet spot of comfort and value for most travellers.

What "Mid-Range" Actually Buys You
The word "mid-range" gets used loosely across the safari industry, so let us be specific about what it means on this trip, because it is not a compromise, it is a deliberate choice.
You still get a private 4x4 and your own guide for all three days, exactly as on our private and luxury itineraries. You still see the same parks, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater, on the same kind of full game drives. What changes is the accommodation: instead of premium camps with the highest level of finish and service, you stay at comfortable, well-run lodges and tented camps chosen specifically for their location near the park gates and their consistent quality, not for how far up the luxury scale they sit.
The result is a trip where almost none of the money goes toward things that do not affect your safari, a marble bathroom does not make the lions more visible, and almost all of it goes toward the vehicle, the guide and the park fees that actually shape your days.

Pricing and How We Quote
We quote this trip individually, based on your group and chosen lodges.
Because the vehicle and guide are private, that shared cost falls per person as your group grows. Add your specific lodge choices and the season you travel, and we send a fully itemised quote showing the park fees, the crater fee, the vehicle and the accommodation as separate lines, so you can see exactly what sits at each tier.

Frequently Asked Questions
It means comfortable, well-located lodges or tented camps, a private 4x4 with your own guide, and full days of game driving in the same parks as any luxury trip. What changes compared with luxury is the finish of the room, the size of the property and some extra comforts, not the wildlife, the guiding quality or the vehicle privacy. It is the tier most travellers land on once they compare what they are actually paying for at each level.
It depends on your group size, the exact lodges chosen and the season, so we quote each trip individually. As a rough guide, mid-range private safaris on this route typically run somewhere between budget shared safaris and full luxury pricing, with the vehicle cost split across your group. Send us your dates and group size for a tailored, itemised quote showing the park fees, accommodation and vehicle as separate lines.
No. The parks, the game drives and the guiding are the same regardless of which accommodation tier you choose, because the wildlife does not know what your lodge costs. The difference between mid-range and luxury is almost entirely about the room, the property and the level of extra service, not what you see on a game drive.
The default route covers Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater, staying at comfortable, well-located mid-range lodges or tented camps at each stop, chosen for a good position near the park rather than the far end of town. Because the vehicle is private, we can adjust the route or swap in Lake Eyasi if that suits you better.
Private. A mid-range safari with us always includes your own 4x4 and guide, not a shared group vehicle. The mid-range label refers purely to the accommodation level; if you want to lower the cost further by sharing the vehicle too, our 3-day group join safari does that.
All three of our Tarangire, Manyara and Ngorongoro itineraries use a private vehicle and guide and see the same wildlife. Our standard private safari focuses on flexible pacing at a general comfort level, mid-range steps up the lodges to well-located, comfortable properties, and luxury adds premium camps, extra service and often crater-rim positions. Pick based on how much comfort matters to you at each price point, not on the wildlife, which does not change.
