Your Expedition Itinerary
Your journey begins at Marangu Gate, trekking through lush rainforests to Mandara Hut. You will then transition into the moorland and heath zones, reaching Horombo Hut. On Day 3, you cross the alpine desert and the "Saddle" between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks to arrive at Kibo Hut, the base for your summit attempt.
A midnight push takes you through Gillman's Point to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). After witnessing a spectacular sunrise, descend to Horombo Hut for your final night on the mountain. On Day 5, trek back through the cloud forest to Marangu Gate to receive your certificates and transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
Today is all about recovery. We start the morning with a visit to the African Art Gallery in Arusha, a masterpiece of architecture housing the continent's finest carvings and gemstones. In the afternoon, we drive to the Chemka (Kikuletwa) Hot Springs. Enjoy a leisurely soak in the geothermal turquoise water surrounded by fig trees—the perfect remedy for sore muscles. A local lunch is served on-site.
